Do you offer water birth?

Absolutely! Water birth is often called “the midwife’s epidural” because it provides such amazing relief during labor. We provide birth pools for our clients, and we’d love to help you create the peaceful, soothing birth space you’re envisioning.

Fees & Insurance

Our services are an investment in your care, with payment plans available. We are out-of-network providers, but you can check your insurance coverage by completing a Verification of Benefits (VOB) through STM Billing, Katie O’Day. For just $15, she’ll help you understand your out-of-network benefits.

Scheduling and availability

We’re thrilled to serve families across the Kansas City Metropolitan area, both in KS and MO. We’d love to schedule a midwife consultation to get to know you more!

FAQ

What services do you offer?

At Midwife KC, we provide full-scope midwifery care to support you from pregnancy through postpartum—and even for general wellness. Our services include:

  • Prenatal Care: Regular, in-depth visits to check on you and your baby, answer questions, and provide holistic, personalized support.
  • Labor & Birth Support: Compassionate, expert care in the comfort of your home, ensuring a safe and empowering birth experience.
  • Postpartum Care: Ongoing care for you and your baby, including newborn checks, breastfeeding support, and those all-important first days as a family.

We also offer well-woman care, so you can stay connected to your health even outside of pregnancy.

Is home birth safe?
Yes, home birth is a safe option for most low-risk pregnancies (and most pregnancies are low-risk!). Our team is experienced and prepared for a variety of scenarios to keep you and your baby safe.

If a hospital transfer is needed, we’ve got you covered. We work closely with local hospitals, including Research Medical Center, to ensure a smooth transition. And don’t worry—we’ll stay by your side throughout the process, providing continuity of care.

Do you support VBAC?
Yes! We’re experienced in supporting VBACs (Sarah is a VBAC mom herself!)
Who will attend my birth?
Our team includes one midwife and one student who serves as a trained birth assistant. Rest assured, everyone is up-to-date on CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation Protocol (NRP).
Can I have a doula or other support people (like my kids) at my birth?

Yes! We love working with doulas, especially for first-time parents and VBACs. You’re welcome to have anyone on your birth team who helps you feel empowered and supported.

If you’d like your older children to attend, we recommend having an additional adult who can step in to care for them if they need a break (or a snack!).

And we always welcome family members to prenatal appointments!

How long do you stay after the birth? Do you clean up?

We typically stay about 2 hours after your baby arrives. During that time, we’ll:

  • Check on you and your baby.
  • Help you establish breastfeeding.
  • Tidy up, throw in a load of laundry, and even take out the trash—so it feels like we were never there!

We’ll visit you back at home 24–48 hours postpartum and again 5-7 days postpartum. We then provide follow-up care in our office at 2-3 weeks, 4 weeks (newborn weight check included) and 6 weeks postpartum.

What makes Midwife KC different?
We’re all about connection and personalized care. Unlike many area practices, we intentionally serve just 6–8 families each month. This allows us to build meaningful, one-on-one relationships with you and provide you with the holistic care you deserve.

Our prenatal visits are unhurried, lasting 30–60 minutes (longer for the first visit), so we can answer your questions and truly get to know you. And with Sarah and Cheryl backing each other up, you’ll always have a familiar face by your side.

This sounds like it’s for me—how do I get started?

We’d love to connect with you! To schedule a consultation, send us an email at midwifekc.office@gmail.com or give us a call at 913-214-2162. We’re available Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM. If we miss you, leave a voicemail, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
